Wind, rain and light: how a flight day gets decided

Every booking has a backup date, because the North East doesn't always cooperate. Here's how the call gets made.

The minimums

Before the day I set limits for wind at height, gusts, rain and visibility. If the forecast breaks any of them the evening before, the mission moves to the backup date at no cost to you.

Light matters as much as wind

Flat, bright cloud is perfect for inspections and progress records: even light and no hard shadows. Low sun in the hour before sunset is what you want for a launch film or a premium home.

What you can do

  • Tell me what the footage is for, so the timing suits it
  • Keep a second date free in the same week
  • Expect a message the evening before with the go or no-go

Planning around the weather costs nothing, and it's the difference between usable footage and a wasted morning.
